The cost of doing nothing
Your power bill is already paying for solar. Just not yours.
Our customers save around $150 a month on average, and solar adds value to your home that Texas doesn’t tax.
- Utility rebates. Austin Energy customers can get a rebate on a qualifying system. When a rebate applies, it’s assigned to us and comes straight off your price, so you don’t wait for a check.
- No property tax on solar. Texas exempts the value solar adds to your home from property tax, so your home’s value can go up without your tax bill following it.
- Sell back your extra power. Many Texas utilities and retail plans credit you for the power your panels send back to the grid. We’ll tell you what yours pays.
- Over 10 years
- $30,950
- Over 25 years
- $98,450
That’s what you’ll pay the power company if nothing changes. Solar lets you put much of that toward a system you own. This is an estimate of your current spending, not a quote.

“From the initial meeting when they clearly communicated the costs, process, equipment, and timeline, to the final install, and everything in between. Drew and Kjersten are both extremely professional and provided detailed information at every phase. We looked at several companies before selecting DKD Energy… I’d give 6 stars if it was a choice.”
“I have had panels for over a year now and saved hundreds on my electric bill. They use the best quality panels and do a very thorough consultation with you explaining not only the benefits but the cost and cost savings over the course of time. Seriously, talk to them, it’s a no-brainer!”
“Had a great experience working with Drew and his team. Everything was done on time and in a professional manner. They helped us through all the steps and were easy to reach for any questions or concerns.”
“Super nice people to work with. I just needed some solar panels removed and replaced after a new metal roof installation. They were very nice and affordable.”

Questions
Straight answers about going solar
How much will I save?
We aim to wipe out up to 95% of your electric bill when your roof allows it. On average our customers save around $150 a month, anywhere from $60 to $250 depending on the system.
Do I still get a federal tax credit?
Not for a home system bought with cash or a loan: the federal residential credit ended on December 31, 2025. Systems owned by a business may still qualify. Solar still pays for itself through lower bills, utility rebates and Texas’s property tax exemption, and we’ll show you the numbers for your home.
How long until my system is working?
Usually 4–8 weeks from signing, and most of that is permitting. That covers HOA approval, the city permit, power company approval, installation (typically one day), the city inspection, the power company’s final inspection and your new meter. You get an email update at every step.
How do I pay for it?
Three ways: zero down with payments deferred 12 months, a solar loan, or cash (including a mortgage refinance). We’ll compare them side by side for you.
Do I need a new roof first?
Not always. If your roof has less than about 10 years left, it’s cheaper to replace it before the panels go on. Our sister company, DKD Roofing, can check it and replace it, and we’ll plan the solar install around it.
